About Judy
Judy's interest in portraits began as a child. Her father, an accomplished amateur photographer, captured cherished images of their family. He nurtured Judy's talent, gifting her first camera when she became a mother herself, inspiring her to open a family portrait studio.
Life rarely goes the way any of us expect it to, and Judy's has been no exception. Rebranding as Judy Riggs Photography marked the beginning of a transformative journey. Transitioning from full-time wife and mother, she sought purpose as her children grew independent. She realized she must not be alone in this, and created "The Be Seen Experience", an opportunity for women over 40 to get to know themselves better, and celebrate through portraits the woman they found.
As Judy's children and step-children left the house one-by-one she began to feel a pull back to her photographic roots. Her family is her most important treasure and she felt an urgent need to have this visually displayed in her home. But she didn't want just a photo, she wanted a true piece of art that would embody her love for them. Convinced others shared her desire, she sought to offer this profound experience to her clients.
In pursuit of growth, Judy found mentorship with Gregory Daniel and William Branson III, masters of bespoke mixed media portraits. Immediately drawn to their work and business acumen, Judy has learned under their tutelage and is thrilled to bring this art to her Southern California family portrait clients.
